Main Practice Areas

  • Japanese and English Contracts
Our practice areas encompass drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts for employment, IP licensing, university research, sports events and confidentiality.
  • Corporate Law
We offer consultation on corporate law and help clients to resolve disputes on corporate matters. We represent both individual shareholders and board members.

We represented the shareholder who proposed the director candidates at the annual shareholders meeting of the Japanese public listed company, made all of them to be selected and obtained the majority of the board.

  • Employment Law
We offer consultation and represent clients for labour law matters relating to dismissal, enforcement of resignation and sexual harassment in court and for out-of-court settlements.
  • Intellectual Property
We offer consultation on private inventions, copyright authorship, trademarks, unfair competition, university research activities and so on. We review, draft and negotiate IP contracts and represent clients during IP dispute resolution.
  • Real Estate
We offer consultation and represent clients in court and for out-of-court settlements in real estate matters, such as sale, purchase or rental of real estate or neighbourhood disputes.
  • Other civil matters such as traffic accidents.
  • Divorce
We offer consultation and represent clients in divorce matters, including payment of marriage and child support expenses, division of assets, parental rights and access to a child, in court and for out-of-court settlements. We have expertise in child abduction cases under the Hague Convention.
  • Inheritance
We provide will-drafting services and represent clients during inheritance disputes, including mediation and litigation at court.
  • Criminal Offence
We immediately interview clients under criminal arrest or custody and represent them in court and negotiate settlements with victims if necessary.

Contracts are becoming increasingly important for individuals in Japan as society becomes more global. You may require not only a Japanese language contract but an English one (for example, for employment or confidentiality agreements with foreign companies or for joint research or licensing agreement with a foreign university). Such draft agreements, however, are difficult to review and negotiate by yourself. Our lawyer Masaki Yoshino, who studied at Cambridge University and University of Chicago Law School and passed the NY State Bar Examination, has extensive experience and expertise reviewing, drafting and negotiating both English and Japanese contracts.

Yoshino also has extensive experience and expertise in dispute resolution in our main practice areas. We will carefully identify the best solution for each individual before going to court.

We provide a proposal and direction promptly at client request.
